after a long break
It's been well over a year since I last posted, and though I've yet to go back to Cuba like some of my other friends, several other things have happened. First and foremost, I graduated, which was rather anticlimactic, and is the reason why I've picked up the blog bug again. I figure it will be a good way to pass the time when I'm not serving surly customers at my restaurant or googling "what should I do with my life?"
Though I could spend time recapping the memorable events in the past year, I would rather focus on the recent summer happenings. There are two things that I wish to mention, the first being Nicaragua.
My aunt Carla and her church group take a week long trip to Ticuantepe, Nicaragua every summer, courtesy of the Bridges to Community program. My brother has been tagging along for the past four years, and I decided to join this past July. We went to built houses for homeless families, and we built three houses in four days. It was a great trip, and I was able to practice my spanish with the Nicaraguan children, though some were less pleased about it than others.
As August began, I quickly moved into a new house, and headed up to New York. Jesse came with me, and we spent 24 hours in the city. We continued on upstate, where we reunited with friends and began the best road trip ever to Acadia National Park in Maine.

So there it is: an unbelievably truncated version of this summer. Now here I am, attempting to adjust to life after school. Stay tuned.
